Large Printed Silk Pocket Square (Silk Handkerchief)

Cedar with Denim, Navy, Powder Blue, Sakura Pink, Hinoki, Matcha, Vanilla & Chocolate Brown The Divine Gathering of the Gods Scene Japanese Ukiyo-e Print Silk Pocket Square

The tale of Izumo centres on the mythological origins of Japan and the divine beings known as kami 神. In Japanese mythology, Izumo in Southern Honshu is considered one of the most sacred regions, believed to be the birthplace of the gods and the site of their initial gatherings.

According to legend, the primordial gods descended from the heavens to establish order and shape the world. Among these deities were Izanagi and Izanami, the divine couple credited with creating the islands of Japan and giving birth to its numerous gods and goddesses.

The central event of the Izumo myth is the divine gathering, known as the Kamu-yamato-Ihare-biko-no-mikoto. At this gathering the various gods assembled at Izumo to discuss matters of creation and governance. This meeting is said to have occurred annually, during the tenth month of the lunar calendar, making Izumo a sacred site of pilgrimage and reverence in Japan.

Throughout the tale, Izumo serves as a focal point for the divine realm, a place where the gods congregate to shape the course of the world and bestow their blessings upon humanity. The story reflects the deep regard and spiritual significance attached to the region in Japanese culture, highlighting its enduring importance as a sacred land, steeped in myth and legend.

The carnivalesque scene is hand-drawn in Kanagawa, Japan, exclusively for Cravat Club, and made in England.

Versatility

Bought it at Goodwood last weekend. Looked versatile, depending on the shirt‘s main color and the what you show of the pocket square. Felt well in the capital and in the Club!
